This Proflex suspension kit is 3 way adjustable and come with a full roller bearing inverted strut assembly developed under WRC conditions. Proflex have created one of the lowest friction inverted front struts available on the market. Usually available in 45 and 55mm struts with a roller bearing assembly attached to the insert and an additional roller bearing assembly at the top of the outer casing. Casings with PTFE bearings are available where rules do not allow linear bearings.
Both front and rear dampers feature corrosion-resistant coatings and external shock oil reservoirs, usually remote mounted with a flexible line for the front and piggyback for the rear, offering high and low speed compression adjustment on the reservoir with rebound adjustment on the shaft. This extra oil volume will help increase the thermal capacity of the shock and allows for a large swept volume cycling over bumps.
The threaded body of the coilover supports the use of a long spring which prevents coil bind. Tuning the ratio of droop to bump is a key area when setting up a car for gravel handling. We can offer an optional hydraulic bump stop, ran as a secondary suspension in desert race cars or rally-raid vehicles. This device resides inside the strut and offers an exponential increase in compression valving resistance during the last few inches before the strut bottoms out. This last bit of damping can help soften the landing of a jump and protect the supporting structure by extending the deceleration time of the unsprung and sprung weight.
This kit can be made to suit almost any application and as it is fabricated bespoke to each order we can cater for any length, range of adjustment or level of corrosion resistance. Strut length adjustment can also be offered but isn’t recommended for all applications.
Please note: cars where the strut and hub are combined may require donor strut casings, these kits will have a surcharge due to the machining work involved in the coilover conversion process and the quality of the finished product is also entirely dependent on the condition of the struts. Top mounts are not usually included but can be supplied and as this is a universal listing, the end product may differ slightly to the pictures. Please contact us with any questions.
