Öhlins, renound for world class shock absorbers have recently created an excellent range of performance coilover kits for occasional track work, but with its clever dual flow valve technology which manages to retain road going ride comfort. This DFV technology has proven extremely popular with those not wanting the crashy ride usually associated with performance suspension.

Dual Flow Valve technology sets Öhlins apart from the competiton, With the DFV, the dual flow valve gives the same characteristics on rebound as it does on compression, thanks to the damper fluid having a consistent path of flow in both directions. This means that the wheel and tyre can quickly and effectively resume their important position back on the ground, providing grip and traction.

Due to the DFV opening more quickly and easily on minor road imperfections, ride comfort is surprisingly supple and more akin to an OEM strut than a coilover set-up but retains performance stabilty and control. Over undulating surfaces, the compliancy of the R&T units allows the car to crest bumps and pot-holes so traction is always maintained at its optimum level.

Dampers will get hot. That’s one thing that you can be sure of. As the piston moves within the damper, it generates friction – and therefore, heat. As the heat increases, the viscosity of the damper fluid can change altering the car’s handling characteristics. The unique needle bleed valve in all Road and Track kits expands with temperature, closing the gap that the fluid travels through, maintaining a consistent damping rate. All you’ll feel is that the car responds consistently, lap after lap, turn after turn. Allowing you to concentrate on braking points and apexes whilst the Öhlins technology takes care of the damping.

Working on the principle that the ground gives better traction than the air, firm but fast road spring rates with good damper travel have been selected for these kits. The unique Ohlins Technology in the dampers is key to allowing your car to spend more time in contact with the tarmac helping maintain a higher speed through corners whilst retaining the smooth and composed ride quality Öhlins DFV brings.

Carbon steel bodies have been salt spray tested to 240hours whilst still retaining full function, each component surface is treated to ensure reduced friction, and superior performance, the piston shaft and damper walls are micro finished and plateau honed for optimum lubricity and a low friction coeffecient. This attention to detail is key to creating a high performance damper with no loss of function due to excessive friction.

Offering 1 way adjustment, inverted front struts for extra strength with length adjustment, spring preload and strut length adjustment. It's perfect for the average fast road user who wants the best ride quality a performance suspension can offer who may want to dial the damping up for the occasional track day.

This kit is engineered bespoke to order, lead time can vary from 4-8 weeks and can be custom valved to suit your requirements. Spring can be supplied as a front and rear coilover or inboard with any combination of both. Springs usually supplied from Ohlins. If the desired rate cannot be achieved with an Ohlins spring we may move to a KW, Eibach or H&R
